When Should You Ring Us?

Ring as soon as water or gas turns up where it shouldn't. These can't sit until morning:

  • A burst pipe or a joint that has let go, with water running into the house
  • A sewer surcharging or backing up into a shower, floor drain or toilet
  • The smell of gas inside or near an appliance
  • A hot water unit that has died, flooded or stopped heating entirely
  • Stormwater pushing back through drains during a heavy rain event

A slow drip or one sluggish sink can wait for a daytime booking. Everything on the list above gets worse as it runs, and soaked plaster and floorboards don't dry on their own.

Burst Pipe? Stop the Water First

Find the meter tap

Look near the front boundary, beside the water meter. Turning it clockwise shuts off every supply line in the house at once.

Close the isolation valve too

A seized meter tap, or water still flowing, means the cold valve on the hot water system needs shutting as well.

Keep the supply off

A pipe that has split once can split again the moment pressure returns, so leave everything closed until we arrive.

Then ring (02) 4093 0558

While you wait, keep everyone clear of the wet area and watch for water near power points.

How an After-Hours Call Runs

The steps are the same at 2pm and 2am:

  1. 01

    Ring or send the form

Call (02) 4093 0558 or use the form to explain the fault. We ask enough to bring the right equipment the first time.

  2. 02

    A fixed price first

A plumber inspects the job and names a fixed figure up front. Nothing gets started until you give the go-ahead.

  3. 03

    Make it safe first

The plumber isolates the broken pipe or appliance, stops the water or gas at its valve, then prices the repair while the house is dry.

  4. 04

    Covered for a year

Every job carries our 365-day warranty on all work. If something we did isn't right, ring the same number.

What Moves the Price of an After-Hours Job?

An emergency figure rests on:

  • The clock: a 2am burst is billed at the after-hours rate, a Tuesday lunchtime one is not
  • Getting at the failed pipe or unit, such as a crawl space under an old cottage
  • The pipe material, since a corroded galvanised line and a modern PVC line are different repairs
  • Parts on the truck versus parts that need sourcing the next morning

We provide up-front, honest quotes that will always match the final price, should you decide to go ahead. A midnight job is priced the same way as a midday one: fixed before we start.

The Faults This Town Has After Dark

Storm surcharge on the low ground

When heavy rain lifts Cockle Creek over its banks, the low streets beside it go under, and the groundwater there is already shallow. Sewer and stormwater can back up together, rising first through a shower base or floor waste. Once the water drops, the lines need a camera and the jetter.

Old pipes letting go without warning

The original township still carries galvanised supply lines and clay drains from the mining era, and both can burst or crack with no sign beforehand. Steel that has rusted inside for decades can split in an afternoon, flooding a cottage that never had trouble.

Hot water dying overnight

Many of the pre-1940 cottages run hot water units well past their working life, and one can leak or quit without notice. A failed tank dripping through a ceiling is an emergency in its own right.

When We're Not the Right Call

Water spraying from the street side of your meter comes from Hunter Water's pipe, and their crew repairs a main burst on the nature strip. A smoking switchboard or a circuit that keeps tripping is electrician's work. We'll point you to the right one when you call.

What a Customer Said After a Burst Pipe

I commend them for their very fast and efficient service when we had a burst pipe.

Emergency Plumbing Questions From Teralba

Is there any hour you won't answer an emergency call in Teralba?

No. We are Available 24/7, weekends and public holidays included. Night work costs more under our after-hours pricing, which is spelled out while you are still on the phone.

Does a blocked sewer count as an emergency?

Yes, once it is surcharging, which heavy rain can cause on the low creekside blocks. Sewage climbing toward a floor waste or toilet rim is urgent, so ring then and there.

What do I do about a burst pipe while I wait for you?

Close the meter tap by the front boundary. That stops the water soaking floors and walls, and it stays off until the plumber is there.

How is an after-hours job priced?

You hear the after-hours rate plus everything else in the figure before anything starts, and the price you accept is the one on the invoice.

Less urgent versions of these jobs have their own pages: clearing blocked drains, hot water system repairs, gas leak repairs and tracing water leaks.
